Let The Galaxy BURN!
It's been awhile since there was a post in here... So I just thought I would brag about my latest haul.|
I discovered a local magazine shop recently... And in their used book section, they had Warhammer novels in great shape for $3 a piece.
So, I piceked up: The Burning Shore, Swords of the Empire and Valnir's Bane.
Then I found out that the last day this shop would be open was on Sunday. Sure, this made me sad... but the was a silver lining.
For me, anyway.
I went to the shop last Sunday and the owner said I could take any of the used books I wanted for $1 a pop...
So then, I ended up with:
The Blades of Chaos, The Heart of Chaos, Ursun's Teeth, The Laughter of the Dark Gods, Into the Maelstrom, Mark of Damnation, Grey Knights, Dawn of War, Plague Daemon, Zavant, Sacred Flesh and the orginal Wolf Riders and Red Thirst anthologies from 89-09!
13 bucks. All in awesome shape.
I also picked up Fifteen Hours (new 40k novel for full price along with some sweet non Warhammer sci-fi/fantasy/medieval Irsih monk murder mystery books for the dollar price (including a pristine copy of Robert Silverberg's 'At Winter's End'!) and some new Elquest graphic novels for $2 each.
Grand total for Sunday was $28 and some change.
Too bad that store closed. I may not have gotten such a sweet deal, sure, but it was an awesome place to go.
Anyhow, I just finished up The Burning Shore and I have to say that, despite all the bad reviews, I freaking loved that book. Sure, the writing has some flaws, but the story is great and moves at a nice clip. Plus, it's a Warhammer Fantasy novel set in Lustria... Very cool. Or hot. And humid.
Hope you all are well!
